Saturday, Feb.3Kaua’i Dirt Painting Workshop – 1-3pm with Jodi for ages 8&up – FREE!!! – (RSVP Required to ensure sufficient amount of space and supplies)

The general idea for this workshop is to use earth that has been dug up from the ground in different areas around the island of Kauaʻi; from Salt Pond, Kokeʻe etc. This soil or clay is then mixed with Gum Arabic to produce a pigment suitable for painting. Students will learn the value of the dirt underneath our feet here on Kauaʻi, the incredible amount of color variations…not only “Red Dirt”, but yellow, green, blue, brown and black. Using these elemental colors, students will explore the possibilities of fabric design, for 2 and even 3 dimensional design and the art of deckle-edged paper in collage. Ideal for any budding artist, this workshop will be a ton of fun!
